3rd grade scholars are just starting their Poetry unit. We tried out a new app/website called Thinglink, where the scholars were able to choose a picture and write a poem about it. We discussed how most people think poetry ALWAYS has to rhyme, and many of the scholars were risk-takers and decided to write a poem that didn't rhyme. Scholars will be revisiting their Thinglink poem throughout the unit so they can revise this first draft and/or add additional poems as they learn new elements of poetry.
Our Kindergarten scholars ALL participated in making our own ABC song. Scholars were involved in forming each letter and recording the name of the letter, sound of the letter, and a word starting with the letter. They're now going to be using this video to practice learning their ABCs! The second video is our Dual Language scholars singing the El Abecedario.
Scholars in Mrs. Jordan's third grade class are part of the Next Generation Digital Classroom pilot program in RRISD. This class received Samsung Galaxy tablets and a new interactive projector. Here is the first day we were using the tablets to practice our addition and subtraction skills. Check back to see what new ways we are incorporating the tablets and technology into our every day school life.
Third graders here at AME learned how to access their school email accounts and how to collaborate to collect data! We were collecting data on the 3rd graders as readers and we also created a 3rd grade favorites spreadsheet. Here scholars decided what the categories would be- everything from the basics of favorite color and food to favorite college and all time favorite book. Scholars will be using this data to create graphs later on in their math unit. We also learned about the importance of collaborating and what the expectations are when we are all working on the same document at the same time. We're super excited to continue to learn how to use our Google tools! |
